Background & Challenge
Munmak has traditionally served as a rural hub where administrative, commercial, and cultural functions converge. However, urbanization pressures, population decline, and surrounding development have gradually diminished its role and vitality. As a historic gateway community, Munmak faced a critical challenge: how to leverage development opportunities while maintaining its rural identity and community bonds. Strategic intervention through public architecture became essential to reverse this decline.
Approach & Methodology
Our strategy focused on enhancing residents' quality of life while revitalizing the local economy through integrated public architecture planning. We conducted extensive field research and community consultation to understand actual local needs. Recognizing Munmak's unique position as a hybrid rural-urban gateway, we designed hub facilities that bridge station development with traditional rural center functions. The Public Architecture Committee review and space utilization analysis informed our final spatial configuration.

Key Proposals
The pre-review process yielded a comprehensive public architecture plan that consolidates diverse functions into an integrated facility. Centered on a multipurpose community hub that serves as the social and cultural heart of the rural center, the design incorporates programs responding to residents' daily needs. Building layout and form harmonize with Munmak's traditional village structure, while detailed implementation guidelines were established to guide future design phases and systematic realization.

Vitality Creation
Implementation of this public architecture plan will transform Munmak into an attractive destination where rural culture and lifestyle can be authentically experienced. By creating spaces that catalyze resident participation and spontaneous community activities, the plan establishes the foundation for long-term sustainable development of this important rural hub.
Project Significance
This project demonstrates how urban development and rural identity preservation can be reconciled through strategic public architecture planning. By weaving together Munmak Station's development potential with traditional rural center functions and community stewardship, we created a model that simultaneously addresses resident aspirations and future-oriented growth. This framework offers practical reference for similar rural revitalization projects nationwide, proving that development and identity conservation need not be competing priorities.
