Background
Yeoncheon Station is strategically positioned in northern Gyeonggi with excellent accessibility to Seoul, while urban development projects are underway. However, with the opening of Seoul Line 1's Yeoncheon Station, the commute time to Seoul has been reduced to within 1 hour and 40 minutes, resulting in improved access to Seoul and increased demographic shifts. The need to establish living infrastructure where young people can settle and start businesses became urgent. Creating jobs, fostering future industries, attracting young talent, and supporting public service startups were critical challenges. This project aimed to create an environment where young people can settle and launch businesses centered on Yeoncheon Station.
Approach
This project was carried out based on identifying local resources and building consensus with residents. We comprehensively explored ways to utilize Yeoncheon-gun's natural assets (Jae-in Waterfall, Horo Gorge, and Imjin River columnar jointing) and historical-cultural assets (Sinneung Temple, Wol-yeong Pavilion, etc.), along with local food resources. Through customized development programs targeting young people and entrepreneurs and community building, we established a sustainable local branding strategy.

These four strategies are supported by a sustainable support system for young entrepreneurs and returning residents. By branding the Yeoncheon Station living area as not simply a redevelopment zone but as "a youth and entrepreneurship hub, multi-purpose settlement-friendly village," we established the area's differentiated identity.
Key Proposals
Based on local resource utilization plans, we proposed diverse implementation projects. Future industry-focused new value creation projects include biotech industries, luxury craft manufacturing, rural experience programs, and youth return investment initiatives. Settlement improvement projects for young entrepreneurs include housing improvements and local food development, with regional attractions being connected. We also presented regional specialty product marketing strategies leveraging Yeoncheon's food resources and tourism assets, along with community activation programs promoting resident participation.
Expected Outcomes
Through phased implementation of the local branding activation project, we expect quantitative outcomes including 20+ new startups, 100+ jobs created, and increased population inflow, as well as qualitative benefits such as increased youth migration, regional economic activation, and improved resident satisfaction. Furthermore, through expansion effects across the entire Yeoncheon-gun, we aim to achieve balanced regional development.
Project Significance
This project is differentiated by conducting local branding of the Yeoncheon Station living area under the clear objective of youth settlement and entrepreneurship activation. By systematically connecting natural assets, historical-cultural assets, and local food resources, we created unique value for the area. We established an implementation structure that simultaneously drives both government support systems and private self-driven activities. By specifically targeting young people as the primary beneficiaries, we secured the region's future sustainability and presented a model that connects to balanced development of the entire Yeoncheon-gun.
