Background
Shineupdong was designated as an urban regeneration activation project in 2019, with various revitalization initiatives promoting community activation and sustainable development. However, to achieve tangible results and realize the economic self-reliance of residents, cultivating human resources and establishing a local-based startup ecosystem became essential beyond mere facility improvements. This led to the implementation of a customized startup education program targeting local residents and prospective entrepreneurs.
Approach & Methodology
This project prioritized place-based, practical entrepreneurship capacity-building while understanding residents' unique characteristics and capabilities. The program was structured in three systematic stages: establishing support for community management social cooperatives, strengthening governance capacity through conflict management committees, and field-based learning from successful models. Each stage was designed reflecting on-the-ground needs and implemented with an action-oriented approach, directly connecting to real business initiatives.

Through this phased approach, we aimed to develop residents' "autonomous leadership and economic self-sufficiency" simultaneously. The ultimate goal was establishing a sustainable community management system through shared benefits, conflict resolution mechanisms, and long-term operational viability.

The academy covered the entire process from establishing to operating community management social cooperatives. The foundation phase introduced cooperative concepts and social values while designing organization models optimized for Shineupdong. The advanced phase systematically taught conflict management committee formation and governance committee operations. Study tours enabled direct learning from exemplary cooperatives nationwide, identifying implementation strategies suited to Shineupdong's context. Post-program consultation and monitoring ensured continued support for participants' actual business initiatives.
